PROJECT ONE

Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Normand Park Transformation

This project aimed to enhance the park’s usability, promote biodiversity, and create a vibrant environment for residents and visitors alike.

Pro Landscapes was tasked with revitalising a disused bowling green at Normand Park in Hammersmith and Fulham, transforming it into a welcoming and engaging space for the local community. At design stage, Hammersmith and Fulham Council tasked Pro Landscapes with the following Objectives:

Convert an unused bowling green into a functional public space

Promote biodiversity through native planting and wildflower sowing

Incorporate sustainable practices by recycling materials and engaging community groups

Renovate the clubhouse entrances to facilitate a future coffee shop

The park is set to become a hub of community life, enhancing the local economy and further promoting social cohesion.

We took on board all of the client’s requests and created inviting permeable pathways using Breedon Golden Amber Gravel, providing a durable, aesthetically pleasing surface that enhances accessibility throughout the area.

We sowed a variety of wildflower seeds to attract pollinators and create a vibrant natural environment, contributing to local biodiversity and implemented planting schemes in collaboration with local community groups, fostering a sense of ownership and involvement in the park’s upkeep.

Using recycled cobble edging stones, sourced from other borough projects, we retained the Footpath materials adjacent to the Club House, in turn reducing waste and contributing to the park’s rustic charm.

We also conducted tree maintenance and vegetation clearance surrounding the club house area to ensure the existing flora was healthy and well-maintained, while opening up space for new plantings.

This project prioritised community involvement throughout its execution. Local groups participated in the planting schemes and were involved in the planting of 1500 Beech Whips, helping to foster a strong community connection to the park. Workshops and volunteer days encouraged residents to take an active role in maintaining the new landscape, ensuring ongoing care and appreciation for the space.

With the anticipated opening of the coffee shop in 2025, the park is set to become a hub of community life, enhancing the local economy and further promoting social cohesion, of which we are extremely proud to have been a part of.

PROJECT TWO

Newly Landscaped Memorial at KBR Global Headquarters

This project aimed to design and create a newly landscaped memorial area to honour two KBR staff members who tragically lost their lives in service as reservists.

We were honoured to undertake a significant landscaping project for KBR at their global headquarters in Leatherhead. This memorial serves as a poignant tribute to their dedication and sacrifice, providing a serene space for reflection and remembrance. Our objectives were:

Design and construct a memorial area that honours the memory of the two KBR staff members

Create a peaceful and respectful environment for employees and visitors to reflect on the contributions of the fallen reservists

Integrate landscaping elements that enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the memorial space

The memorial provides a meaningful space for employees to gather, reflect, and pay their respects.

We engaged with KBR representatives to gather insights on the desired elements and significance of the memorial. We assisted in developing a design concept that reflected the values of KBR, whilst keeping in theme with the colour schemes across the site, but most importantly paid tribute to the individuals being honoured, ensuring the space fostered a sense of peace and remembrance.

We created a central focal point for the memorial area, which included a beautifully crafted stone feature containing plaques inscribed with the names of the reservists. This feature serves as a symbolic representation of their legacy. We incorporated clean, white stone around the memorial to provide a natural and calming environment.

We designed and installed gentle pathways leading to the memorial, allowing easy access for all visitors. The pathways were constructed using natural Sandstone that blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

Lastly, we implemented subtle lighting around the memorial area to enhance its beauty during the evening hours, ensuring it remains a tranquil space for reflection at all times of the day.

In developing the memorial, Pro Landscapes emphasised the importance of employee involvement. KBR employees were invited to participate in the design process, allowing them to contribute ideas and personal touches that reflect the spirit of their friends being honoured. This engagement helped foster a deeper connection to the memorial space.

The newly landscaped memorial area stands as a testament to the dedication and service of the two KBR staff members. It not only honours their memory but also provides a meaningful space for employees to gather, reflect, and pay their respects. The thoughtful design and careful selection of landscaping elements create a tranquil environment that enhances the overall atmosphere of the KBR headquarters.
